State Line Lookout Parking Lot

Join us for an outdoor yoga practice followed by a 5 mile hike with challenging rock scrambles at Giant Stairs (Palisades Interstate Park).  After, we'll do a challenging but super fun hike with lots of rock scrambles. If you are not up to that, there are easy hikes & walks starting from the state line lookout that you can do on your own (such as the one to the Women's Federation Memorial Castle).

The planned hike is about 5 miles, which alternates between flat terrain and rock scrambling, bordering on rock climbing. We'll drive down to the Alpine Boat Basin, and from there hike back up to the State Line Lookout over the Giant Stairs. They are more like giant jumbled boulders and rocks, so be prepared, mentally and physically! The views are breathtaking, the river, the rocks, the colorful fall foliage, waterfalls and wooden bridges along our way! Exciting, challenging and blissful - a combination only Mother Nature can provide!

Bring light lunch/snacks and 1-2 liters of water.

Kids 12 and older permitted with parent. We advise against bringing your dog, even though dogs on leash are allowed in the area. We've observed many people having to carry their dog across the giant boulders. 

Estimated Hike Time: 4-5 hours for the uphill hike. We should be done by about 6-6:30 pm.

Difficulty: Fit Beginners (with a great sense of balance and comfortable with heights) to Advanced; Rocky terrain, scrambling, steep ascents and descents with a total of approx 700' elevation gain

Cancellation Policy: Subject to cancellation up to 24 hours in advance or for rain.

What to bring:
• Water (1-2 liters)(A MUST), light lunch, snacks
• Shoes with good grip, such as Vibram soles
• A Small Pack - nothing too large that will become a hindrance in the scrambles
• Related maps, a compass or GPS (optional)
• First Aid (such as band-aids)/any medicines you need
• Tick /bug repellent spray
• Sunblock
• Phone/Camera.
