Our own Anupama will be one of the featured poets in Suffern Poetry's monthly open mic for August. Hope to see you there!
Suffern Poetry's monthly poetry open mic happens in Suffern the 3rd Saturday of each month. Anyone that wants to can come and sign up to read up to 5 minutes of original poetry. Doors/sign-ups at 6:30 PM. Poetry starts at 7:03 or so. Come. $5 recommended donation at the door.
A. Anupama is a poet, critic, essayist, and translator whose work has appeared in Drunken Boat, Waxwing, Fourteen Hills, CutBank, Numéro Cinq, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and she currently organizes literary community (RiverRiver.org) and leads creative writing workshops for kids and teens at Writopia Lab. Honors include a Pushcart Prize nomination in 2015 and a fellowship for emerging writers at the Center for Book Arts in NYC. Anupama lives with her family in Nyack, New York. Penelope-Myles Voss is a Nyack singer/songwriter who studied vocal performance at Ithaca College. She returned to Rockland with a ukulele in tow and her catchy tunes have been in our heads ever since. Her songs are bittersweet and speak to themes of loss, hope and the search for identity.
