Welcome to Oracle Developers NYC's August 2017 meetup! Here's a look at the agenda...
Marc Sewtz - APEX 5.2 New Create Application Wizard
APEX 5.2 introduces a new create application wizard. This new wizard will enable developers to develop complete applications that include pre-configured features such as access control, activity reports, email framework, feedback, theme style selection and others. Additionally, this wizard provides a blueprint option which captures the application definition in JSON format. Blueprints can be saved and reused to iteratively refine the application definition. A preview of this new wizard is available today on apex.oracle.com.
Dan McGhan - Building Real-time Data in Web Applications with Node.js
Real-time data is an increasingly popular topic these days. The basic idea is simple: when data in the database changes, any clients viewing the data should see the changes immediately: in real-time. Gmail and Twitter are great examples of applications that make use of real-time data. Users don’t need to refresh the page to see new emails or tweets. Instead, new data is pushed to the clients when it becomes available.
In this session, attendees will learn about some of the tools that make real-time applications easier than ever before, including Node.js and Socket.IO. Of course, the data must be pushed from somewhere, so we will also explore the way that databases participate in this process.
Note: You must RSVP for this event and seats are limited. Please RSVP with your full name and bring matching ID for security. Please do not RSVP if you are unsure that you will be able to attend. If you do RSVP and are no longer able to attend please change your status so that someone on the waiting list may take your place.
