The Community Choir os Detroit will be joining us on Thursday 5th October for an Informal Concert.
Edward Maki-Schramm, DMA, a dedicated Detroiter, is excited to lead the Community Chorus of Detroit as Artistic Director/Conductor. In addition to leading and designing a thrilling and varied musical year for the Community Chorus, Dr. Maki-Schramm is a Major Gift Officer at Wayne State University’s School of Medicine and the Director of Music at Christ Church (Episcopal) in downtown Detroit. Since his appointment as Conductor of the CCD in 2012, the chorus has experienced growth in vision and in numbers. Working with the Board of Directors, Dr. Maki-Schramm has been able to secure financial support, triple the membership of the chorus, and plan the chorus’ first European tour for 2015. The CCD looks forward to a bright and long future with premieres and commissioned works in the coming seasons. A forthcoming book is in the works on how to build a grassroots arts organization.
Dr. Maki-Schramm received his MMus and DMA from the University of Michigan and his BMus from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. He has made several European tours and was the organist chosen to perform for the 2005 Grammy Award-winning recording of William Bolcom’s “Songs of Innocence and Experience.” His recordings have been featured on the nationally syndicated radio program, Pipedreams.
