The SPELLIN' BEE date has been set and the "buzz" has already started.
The 23nd Annual Spellin Bee & Business After Hours on September 21st at the Statesville Civic Center. Business After Hours sponsored this year by the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce begin from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. and the Spellin' Bee is from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
How does the Spellin' Bee work?
Spellin Bee teams are made up of no more than 4 members, , working together to spell each word. "Bee" careful, one misspelled word and you are disqualified. BUT....here is where the fun begins. If you misspell a word, you can bribe a judge for $25 and remain in the competition. Bribery is recommended and is very discreet. No other team in the competition will ever know. Any amount of words can be purchased in the first two rounds. If you make the challenge round, only one word can be purchased and it will cost you $100.

Teams come out in their full colors to compete in this unique event. You don?t need to be a great speller to participate. With four on a team, a bribe here and there, how can you lose?

Space is limited so sign your team up today!!! Click to register a team or bee a sponsor.
Proceeds from the Bee are used to support workforce development in Iredell County. Each GED graduate of Mitchell Community College is awarded a scholarship for one free curriculum or occupational extension class. This opportunity provides a lot of Mitchell's GED graduates the means and encouragement they need to take the next big step in moving forward along their career pathway.
